A 17-year-old girl, simply identified as Agnes, who
went to a beach in Lagos with her boyfriend on
Christmas Day has drowned.
Agnes was said to have left her residence at
Ajegunle, Kirikiri Road, to the Bar Beach in Victoria
Island, with her lover, Emmanuel, but never returned
home.
Emmanuel was reportedly called by his friend,
Taiwo, around 4 pm to announce that the girl had
drowned. Taiwo, however, said that they were still
waiting to see if she could float, so that they would
recover the body.
Leadership reports :
Taiwo told this reporter at the beach that Emmanuel
had earlier informed him that he was going to the
Bar Beach with his girlfriend and promised to meet
them there. When he arrived there with his girlfriend
and later called his friend (Emmanuel), he shocked
him with the sad news.
“I do not even know the beach where Emmanuel
took Agnes to,” he said. Taiwo said that when he
wanted to inquire about the beach, Emmanuel’s
phone was switched off. “I wonder if he can face the
girl’s parents. To tell them that their only daughter
drowned,” he lamented.
In another development, a 12-year-old who
accompanied his brother to the beach was declared
missing.
The boy identified as Charles, was said to have left
their residence in Mushin on Christmas Day, but was
declared missing by his elder brother, Anthony.
Anthony told LEADERSHIP Friday that Charles was
playing around the Lekki Beach, with some boys his
age when he left them and decided to go for a walk
with his girlfriend, Mercy. When he returned from the
stroll, though, he could not find Charles again.
“What will I tell my family?” Anthony cried out aloud,
saying that the news would kill his mother.
Meanwhile, his friends were still searching for the
missing boy late into the evening, without success.
